MIDDLE SCHOOL (GRADES: VI-VIII)
- English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer Science(VI-VII), Sanskrit, German, French.
OVERVIEW:
Our Middle School learning builds on the structured, student-centred foundation laid in the primary years in Primary School. Its framework encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real World.
All the subjects are criterion-related and have strong inter-disciplinary elements. This curriculum is approached through inquiry, developing what the students know into an exciting journey of knowing more, thus stimulating a student’s latent curiosity and honing the skills of research, expression, presentation and application. Students learn to share experiences and work in teams.
ASSESSMENT:
- Our middle school employs a variety of assessment methods to gauge students’ understanding and progress.
- We utilise traditional assessments like quizzes, tests, and exams to measure knowledge and comprehension.
- Additionally, we emphasise project-based assessments, where students demonstrate their skills through creative and practical applications.
- Regular class participation, discussions, and presentations allow for oral assessment and improve communication skills.
- Formative assessments, such as homework and classwork, provide ongoing feedback to guide learning.
- We also employ peer evaluations and group projects to encourage collaboration and teamwork.
- The diverse assessment approaches aim to capture the strengths and abilities of each student, promoting a holistic evaluation of their academic performance and growth.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING:
If we recognise that individual students have different ’intelligences’; it is logical to allow them to develop these different talents through individual projects.
Research suggests that many of us remember:
- 10% of what we read
- 20% of what we hear
- 30% of what we see
- 70% of what we discuss with others
- 80% of what we experience by doing
This approach can be applied almost as easily to languages and Mathematics as it can to so-called practical subjects.
METHODOLOGY AND LEARNING STYLE:
"Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?" - TS Eliot
This statement encapsulates one of our major objectives. A key skill in an age when we are constantly bombarded with information and pseudo-information is the ability to sift the evidence and come to our own conclusions. The Goenkan approach to learning encourages the development of this skill, not just because the CBSE curriculum demands it but because survival can depend upon it.
LEARNING TO LEARN
G D GOENKA aims to develop motivated, confident articulate students with the skills necessary for independent study. Observing that teachers are also learning, young people are themselves encouraged to become Life-Long Learners.
ANYWHERE- ANYTIME LEARNING:
Because the campus is student-friendly, with universal access to IT and other technological support, students become aware from the outset that learning can and should be ’Anywhere-Anytime’.
